Monday, October 10th, 2011

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. We have designed a category at www.BlossomBucket.com with perfect gifts for survivors and fighters of breast cancer. This piece has been an all-time favorite of mine. Designed by Barbara Lloyd, it is an uplifting reminder to take life as it comes.

"Favorite Time of Year" Scarecrow - 116-85933Last week on my blog I talked about my irresistible desire to clean out my closets, my pantry, and my purse once I sent my daughter off to college.  I’m still not sure where that came from, but this week I am into a whole different realm.

I have been thinking this week about those things that I absolutely love, those things that I strongly dislike (hate is a strong word here so I thought this would be a better choice of words), and those things that totally make my day!!

Today, right now, at this moment in time, I am totally loving:

  1. Macadamia nuts!  I guess it’s just their size and crunchiness that’s makes them a perfect go-to snack.  I can’t get enough of them right now!
  2. Open windows!  I am loving the cooler air and being able to open the windows once again.  Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.

Today, right now, at this moment in time I strongly dislike (very close to ‘hate’):

Time to Clean Out My Purse

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I am really into several tasks these days.  Once #4 left for college I have had this strong desire to start cleaning out closets, desk drawers, kitchen pantry…………….really anything that has been neglected over the years.    I’m not sure why this desire hit me so suddenly ….maybe it’s because my nest is becoming empty and what’s left I want it neat and clean for goodness sake!

I decided to clean out my purse the other night and man……..it sure needed it.   (more…)

Patiently Waiting for Baby…

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Animal watchingAs I get closer to the birth of my 3rd child, I never cease to be amazed at how my children are preparing themselves.

My 3 year old now always has tabs on her “babies”, snug and warm in a special blanket she loves. She was delighted at dinner the other night when I was able to have her baby “sit” next to her while she ate.

I recently was telling my 4 year old (soon to be 5 year old) and daughter how lucky I thought the baby was going to be because it (we do not find out the sex)  was going to have an older brother and older sister. My son let me know, “Mom, I am going to let Noelle handle this one.  I am just too tired for another one!”  He does periodically  believe that the parenting is conducted by a triumvirate.

They never cease to amaze me!

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Hello there…. Greetings from Atlanta!

Tomorrow will end the July Atlanta Summer show.  We have seen old friends, made new ones, suffered through extreme heat, eaten two 45 oz. bags of M&M’s (Todd’s favorite), served tons of popcorn (per Barb, if you mix the popcorn with the M&M’s it is sheer delight)….discovered a new favorite cookie, Oatmeal Butterscotch (just ask Natalie)…………………………….and the most important part – shared our new 2012 product with scores of customers!!!

If you were not able to attend the Gift Show in Atlanta we still have a few more on the calendar before summer’s end.   You will not want to miss out on our new product and our fabulous show special.  Check out our website at www.BlossomBucket.com to view the dates and locations.  We hope to see you soon!

Kathy's daughter, Sarah - senior pictureThis past weekend my daughter, Sarah, graduated from high school.  I can not believe how time has flown!  Sarah has been so fun to watch as she’s enjoyed her senior year and accomplished all that she’s hoped to accomplish.

Goodyear Blimp Spotting!

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

blimpThis past weekend the Goodyear Blimp flew over my house.  This has been an exciting thing ever since I can remember.  So, of course, I had to run outside with camera in hand.

I did a little research on the Goodyear Blimp and I thought I would share these fun facts with you!

Goodyear produced its first Blimp in 1925.

There are 3 Goodyear Blimps total.  One located right here in Ohio, another in California, and the third is located in Florida.

The Goodyear Blimp is the name for a fleet of blimps operated by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for advertising purposes.

It is always so cool to watch it fly over!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks,

Kristy

Ahh! Friday the 13th!

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Hi there, and Happy Friday the 13th!

I will happily admit it: I am superstitious.

Every time I run a yellow light, I knock on my window twice. If it happens to turn red while I can still see it, I add another knock. It works – I’ve never, ever had a ticket. And yes, I literally just knocked on wood.

I always wear my cross and Saint Christopher medals (I have 3) when I travel and fly. I hold my breath when I go through tunnels. I try to keep my feet off the floor of my car when I go over railroad tracks.

I was in Hawaii and spent an afternoon hiking on lava to get to a black sand beach. I learned my lesson from The Brady Bunch – I did NOT take any black sand or any tiki statues home with me. A woman told me the Hawaiian post office is constantly getting shipments of lava and black sand back from travelers who took them as souvenirs. I believe it!

That being said, I have never paid attention to the “unluckiness” of Friday the 13th. I did some checking online, and here is what I found about the history of this date! (more…)

Happy Earth Day!

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

0911-50685Hi there, and Happy Friday!

Along with today being Good Friday, it is also Earth Day. Going “green” has always been a cause that I hold close to my heart. I’m big into recycling and not wasting, and taking care of what you have and what is around you. I love nature, and I’m hoping my future relatives will be able to enjoy it as much as I do.

Here are some facts on Earth Day!

  • • The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 – more than 20 million people took part! Before this, environmental concerns weren’t too high on any priority list.
  • • After the first Earth Day, so many pieces of important legislation were passed: Water Quality Improvement Act, Endangered Species Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, and the Clean Air Act. (more…)
