This is a very exciting time at the Hammer household. We are anxiously awaiting the completion of our homemade sauerkraut! Much like waiting for the delivery of a child, you just have to be patient until the product is done “cooking”.
Making sauerkraut is very easy! You need cabbage, salt and man power. You shred the cabbage into a crock. As you layer the ingredients, you pound them and smash them into the crock. It is a little bit of a tedious process, and every year takes a little longer than we remember.
You then let the cabbage ferment for 4 weeks, then can it. The fermentation process is not for the light of stomach, but the final product is amazing. We love sauerkraut and eat it pretty frequently! We have not ever been able to buy in the store what we make! So now, we just be patient!
Have a great week!
Natalie

As I get closer to the birth of my 3rd child, I never cease to be amazed at how my children are preparing themselves.
Natalie and I will be heading back from the Palmer Marketing Buy Meeting today.

Last week was a very exciting week for our household. It was the Stark County Fair! What made this fair even more special is that this is the first time we took animals to the fair.
