Tuslaw-cThis weekend, August 19-20, is our back to school Spirit Event at The Gateway to Amish Country!

I am a diehard Tuslaw Mustang fan!  My house “bleeds blue” as we say.

I have been watching the pictures post daily on Facebook of the new Tuslaw items that are going to be available this weekend…and I am pretty sure I need one of everything!  From hair flowers to inflatable noise makers we have something for everyone.

Massillon Tiger fans don’t you worry…everything we have in blue we have in orange and black just for you!

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Go MustangsIt’s hard to believe the Hall of Fame festivities have come and gone already.

If you didn’t already know, Blossom Bucket, Inc. is located close to Canton, Ohio.   Home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

Last week was our annual Hall of Fame week.   There wasn’t an actual football game this year, but we still had a ton of fun!

The Timken Grand Parade was held on Saturday, August 6th.   My daughter and the Tuslaw Marching Mustangs were one of the 110 entries in the parade.   What a great day it was!

Acacia Creations sample -cIn Cindy’s last blog, she wrote a bit about Destiny Rescue, the mission that we’re supporting with jewelry being purchased for The Gateway to Amish Country.

We now have another company doing good works to add to our list: Acacia Creations.  Acacia Creations offers handmade items by the women of Kenya and Uganda.  Part of what makes their wares so incredibly unique is that many items, including jewelry and coasters, are made from recycled paper!  This photo show just a few of the items you will see at The Gateway!

You’re Invited to a Garden Party at The Gateway!

Monday, July 11th, 2011

GatewayGardenEvent2c-revWe just finished our June event and are already working on new product for the July event.

If you missed the June event, you missed some new jewelry that is hand made by girls in Taiwan.  The mission is called  Destiny Rescue.  The purpose of this organization is to help rescue girls sold into slavery.  The mission rescues the girls out of this terrible situation and offers them a place to rehabilitate.  The girls are  housed in a dormitory where they are taken care of, given counseling, and trained to make jewelry so they have a viable trade skill.  The girls make enough money to help their families back home. It is not uncommon in the third world countries for the girls to be sent away to work in order to send money home to help take care of the rest of the family.

Walk for MS

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

This past Sunday, I was among the 2245 participants who walked, rolled or strolled to boost awareness of Multiple Sclerosis.

Team MSketeers!

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and affect individuals differently.

The local 3 mile walk was held at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania. (more…)

When You Just Can’t Find the Words…

111-83537For most of us, the hardest thing to deal with in life is death.

Last week, we had a tragedy in our community.  Two juniors at our local high school were in a terrible car accident, and both boys lost their lives.  I didn’t know the boys personally, but with our community being so small, it makes an impact that is hard to swallow.

‘Bucket Friends and Family, Let’s Touch a Life this Christmas!

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Christmas cards are such an amazing reminder of the joy Christmas brings.  Wouldn’t you love to bring joy to a little boy who is fighting for his life this Christmas?

Ryan Trewin is a true hero in the Canal Fulton, OH area.  He was given only weeks to live due to a spinal cord tumor that has spread to his brain.

An employee here at “The Bucket” has teamed up with our local community to load this little guy up with Christmas cards this holiday season.

Can you imagine the smile on his face when he receives a card from Texas, Florida, or even Minnesota? With your help he will!

Please send your Christmas card to the address below and let this little boy know you are thinking of him this Christmas Season.
