In or Out?

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Today Wall Street Plunges around 4%!!!  Are you in or out the stock market?

I know there is widespread pain on Wall Street now.  I feel pain also because I did tell my husband to come out for a period, but he was just used to what he had known. Well, it doesn’t matter if you just want to sit the stock in the market, don’t want to earn cash in pocket.

Everybody wants to earn money from the investment.  Most people calculate the earnings according the increased net value against the cost. (more…)

Foreign Exchange Rate in China

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

There are so many products imported or are going to import from China: Furniture, clothing, crafts…. It is known that China has low labor cost for the products exported to the US.  But seldom people know that other reasons are Chinese government tax incentive promotion plan and currency exchange rate.

For a long time, the Chinese government has controlled the foreign currency exchange rate.  When the labor cost is low enough, the lower RMB exchange rate is, the more factories will come to China.  Chinese government has been really successful to develop economy and technology within 30 years in this way.

Things are changing slightly now.  People in China want more freedom, WTO would like every member to have fair market environment.  China has to meet that requirement.

So, China currency exchange rate has to float with the currency exchange market, instead of being manipulated by the government.

On Oct 13th, USA currency US dollar to China currency RMB-exchange rate was 1:0.15. Seven months ago, it was 1:0.146. Within 7 months, RMB value increased 2.7%. RMB is becoming stronger and stronger.  That means China currency exchange rate is heading to the direction of the market.

Green Is the New Black

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

go-paperless_3There are a lot of new buzz words floating around these days, both in industry and the private sector.  Moving speedily to the top of the list is “green.”

In business, in particular, green used to mean one thing: the almighty dollar.  Today, though, green has become something very different, and yet not.  These days, operating in the green is quickly becoming every bit as important as operating in the black.  However, many businesses are facing the challenge of accomplishing both of these goals at once when, under certain conditions, these two ends seem mutually exclusive.

So, how does a business succeed economically and environmentally?
